GMA, Japan Motors launch 16th Corporate Run and Walk to support persons with visual impairment

Global Media Alliance (GMA) and Japan Motors have collaborated to launch the 16th Corporate Run and Walk event, set to take place on September 21, 2026. This five-kilometre race aims to promote workplace wellness while providing support to individuals with visual impairment. The annual event, held in remembrance of Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Day, will be simultaneous across the Greater Accra, Ashanti, Western, and Northern Regions of Ghana.

Ernest Boateng, CEO of GMA, emphasized that the initiative has grown beyond a mere corporate fitness event over the past sixteen years. "Today, it has become a platform that demonstrates how businesses can come together to improve lives while investing in the wellbeing of their people," he shared. Twenty-five percent of the proceeds from the event will once again be donated to the Ghana Blind Union to aid individuals with visual impairment.

Salah Kwaku Kalmoni, Executive Director of Lakeside Estate and Silver Star Tower, described the event as a "race of impact," stressing that social impact has always been the primary focus. He highlighted the "Personal Best" concept, encouraging participants to concentrate on their individual performance improvements, rather than direct competition. The donation for this year will be used to provide tandem bicycles and mobility support to enhance the independence and mobility of visually impaired individuals.

Mabel Offei, Japan Motors' Marketing Manager, reaffirmed the company's commitment to the initiative, aligning with their belief in giving back to society. "Japan Motors is proud to continue supporting this initiative because it aligns with our commitment to improving lives," she stated. Companies and individuals are invited to participate, with a registration fee of GH¢100, and registration tickets are available at select locations across Ghana.
