[UPDATED] Police deny viral claim of acting deputy IGP Bukit Aman PC

On July 26, Datuk Seri Ibrahim Darus assumed the role of Acting Deputy Inspector-General of Police (IGP) in Malaysia. However, a viral post on social media has sparked controversy by falsely claiming that IGP had held a press conference at Bukit Aman regarding a police operation. The police have vehemently denied these allegations, stating that no such press conference took place nor any statement was issued.

The police secretary, Datuk Mohamad Noor Yusof Ali, issued a statement clarifying that the post was fabricated, complete with fake images and misrepresentations of IGP's identity and position. Such deceptive content can mislead the public, create misunderstandings, and undermine the credibility of both the individual and the police institution.

Consequently, a police report has been lodged to investigate the responsible parties behind the creation and dissemination of the false information. The police remain vigilant in responding to any attempt to misuse their officers' identities, images, or positions to disseminate fabricated statements or actions.
