Iran’s Guards say won’t reopen Hormuz without US meeting all of Tehran’s conditions

Iranian Revolutionary Guards have declared they will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz, a critical shipping route, until the United States meets Iran's conditions which include compensation for war damages. The Guards made this announcement on Sunday, following a series of aggressive actions by Iran against ships in the region. The closure of the strait, imposed since February's attacks by the US and Israel, has severed a key route for global trade, leading to a significant decline in transit.

Iran also seeks to levy tolls for passage, accusing ships of circumventing its preferred route. The situation has escalated tensions, with both sides accused of violating a June memorandum aimed at peaceful negotiations. Iran's foreign minister mentioned ongoing talks with Oman over the strait's management, but emphasized that reopening Hormuz depends on further conditions and compensation for the June agreement violations.

Iran's security chief listed demands such as an end to aggression against Iran and its allies, lifting of US counterblockade on Iranian ports, and the release of frozen assets, alongside compensation. The ongoing conflict and these actions have strained international relations, with several nations condemning the hostile actions and urging for a peaceful resolution.
