Perlis Umno gears up to contest all seats solo at next election

Perlis Umno is getting ready to contest all 15 state seats and three parliamentary seats independently at the upcoming election, according to state liaison chairman Datuk Rozabil Abd Rahman. Reports suggest there have been no formal discussions with any political party, including Perikatan Nasional (PN), regarding electoral cooperation in Perlis.

Rozabil emphasized that party members' desire and their ongoing efforts are focused on participating in all electoral districts. The state chapter, which did not secure any seats in the last election, will defer any decisions on electoral cooperation to the party's national leadership. Rozabil mentioned that some parties approached him about meetings, but he deemed such discussions premature, stating that the immediate priority is ensuring the party machinery functions effectively.

He also alleged that the PN state administration has failed to deliver significant development, particularly economic opportunities and job prospects for young people. Rozabil noted that Umno's machinery, including Wanita Umno's Jalinan Rakyat network at polling stations, is already being prepared as if an election could be held at any moment.
