Independence Day 2026: Crafts from four states adorn President’s At Home invite

On the occasion of Independence Day 2026, President Draupadi Murmu will host an At Home reception for around 650 guests, including notable citizens and community leaders, on August 15. The event, themed around the heritage and traditions of four central Indian states—Maharashtra, Goa, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh—will showcase handcrafted Pineap Pitwa from Bastar, Konkan's patoleo, Chhattisgarh's mini farra, Maharashtra's khamang Kakdi, and Madhya Pradesh's gatpat.

The specially designed invite bag, crafted in collaboration with the National Institute of Design, features environmental practices and conservation efforts from these states. The bag contains a Maheshwari stole, a display frame with Pitwa art figurines, and Azulejo tiles depicting Goa's Khajan lands. Beneficiaries of specific government schemes, such as Pradhan Mantri Matsya Kisan Samridhi Yojana and Dharti Aaba Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan, have also been invited to the high tea.
