Police kill alleged bandit kingpin ‘Acid’ in Imo, recover AK-47, ammunitions

In Imo State, Nigeria, a notorious gang leader, Ojiogu Elumah Martin, also known as "Acid," was killed in a firefight on April 10, 2026. The Special Tactical Squad–Force Intelligence Department (STS-FID) launched the operation at the Inspector-General of Police's order, following the monarch's murder. Acid's gang was being investigated for the monarch's death and five other violent crimes.

Acid was the mastermind behind the attack on Eze Paulinus Ekwueme, a first-class monarch, who was returning from a meeting in Ochia. The victims included Amadi Uchechukwu Emmanuel, Onyivara Maduabuchi Jornadad, Gift Broaddic, Abraham Lincoln, and Otor Benjamin. After opening fire on the police, Acid was neutralized. Police recovered weapons from the scene, and investigations continue into the group's activities and the roles of its members.
