Immigration investigates video of vehicle reportedly misusing department logo

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 9 — The Immigration Department is probing the use of its logo on a vehicle captured in a widely shared social media video, allegedly driven by a foreign individual. Immigration director-general Datuk Zakaria Shaaban revealed that the preliminary findings indicated the vehicle did not belong to the department nor was it an official asset.

Zakaria emphasized the importance of the department's logo being used appropriately, as misuse could lead to public confusion and a misleading impression. The investigation is ongoing to pinpoint the individual responsible and ascertain the intent behind the unauthorized use of the department's logo. The department pledged to enforce stringent penalties under existing laws should any violations be confirmed.

Zakaria warned against compromising on such misuse, stressing the need to protect the department's image and credibility. He also appealed for public vigilance and cautioned against disseminating unverified information during the course of the investigation.
