Immigration Dept probes vehicle bearing its logo

KUALA LUMPUR: The Immigration Department is probing the unauthorized use of its logo on a vehicle driven by a foreign national, after images of the vehicle circulated widely on social media. Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban stated that the preliminary findings reveal the vehicle is neither owned nor operated by the department.

The investigation aims to identify the individual responsible and determine the motive behind displaying the department's logo on the vehicle. The agency emphasizes the seriousness of such misuse, as it risks causing public confusion and presenting a false image. Appropriate legal action will be taken if any violation is confirmed.

Zakaria warned that the department will not tolerate any misuse of its logo or identity that could mislead the public or tarnish its reputation. The matter was initially brought to light via a post on the social media platform Threads, questioning why foreigners were seen operating a vehicle bearing the department's logo and if the two individuals in the vehicle were authorized to drive it, raising concerns about safety.
