Henti bincang agih kerusi PRN Melaka di media sosial, kata Ab Rauf

Pengerusi Barisan Nasional (BN) untuk Melaka, Ab Rauf Yusoh, has called for discussions about political cooperation and seat distribution shared on social media to be avoided, stating that such debates could form an unhealthy perception. As the head of the state, Ab Rauf has not yet engaged in any formal talks regarding cooperation, nor has any leaders from PAS or PN approached him or BN Chairman Zahid Hamidi.

He urges for discussions to be held in a more responsible manner, away from social media. Ab Rauf hopes for a more mature form of political debate in a formal setting. He emphasized that the party will carefully evaluate and analyze before making any announcements, and the political dynamics in Melaka cannot be measured based on the result of Parliament, as BN has been working to win the trust and provide the best services to the people.

According to him, the election scenario cannot be measured as a yardstick for the distribution of seats that will occur in the PRN Melaka. BN has not held any parliamentary seats in Melaka, but has won 21 seats in the Dewan Negara during the last PRN, while PN only won two seats through PAS. Zahid Hamidi previously stated that BN will retain all 21 parliamentary seats they won in PRN 2021.

He added that seat swapping could also be considered involving other states, as long as it is balanced. Last Friday, PAS President Hadi Awang said that the PN led by PAS has started preliminary talks with BN regarding the seats to be contested in the upcoming PRN Melaka.
