Ezechukwu’s World U-20 dream ends in disqualification

Nigeria's promising U-20 athlete, Miracle Ezechukwu, saw her world championships aspirations crumble in Eugene, Oregon, when she was controversially disqualified from the women's 200m final due to a lane infringement. Ezechukwu had delivered a standout performance in the semifinals, setting a personal best of 22.61 seconds and securing a second-place finish, seemingly on track for a final berth.

However, officials ruled her out of the race for stepping outside her designated lane, leading to her disqualification. Nigeria's national team lodged a protest to challenge the decision and restore Ezechukwu for the final, but their appeal was rejected, leaving the young athlete visibly distraught and inconsolable throughout the day.
