ActionSA candidates outline plans for KwaZulu-Natal municipalities ahead of 2026 elections

Three ActionSA mayoral candidates in KwaZulu-Natal have outlined their plans ahead of the 2026 Local Government Elections. Zwakele Mncwango, nominated for eThekwini Municipality, proposed a ten-point plan to improve the city. This includes insourcing essential services, auditing councillors, and protecting whistleblowers. Mncwango criticized the failed Go!

Durban project and pledged to convene a summit within 30 days to address delays and find solutions. He emphasized that public transport is crucial as many residents face issues such as dry taps, unemployment, and crime.

Halalisani Ndlovu, who will represent KwaDukuza Local Municipality, expressed that the people have waited too long for a functional municipality. Ndlovu, who has experienced the municipality from both a councillor and resident perspective, highlighted the disparity between the government's inner workings and the issues faced by the public.

He criticized the disconnect between expectations and the level of service delivery, stating that the blame lies with the leadership rather than the people. Ndlovu called for a shift in mindset towards expecting high-quality services from local government.

Zwe Nxumalo, nominated for Newcastle Local Municipality, vowed to combat corruption and alleviate job losses and service delivery problems in the industrial town. ActionSA President Herman Mashaba addressed the election's significance in presenting credible leadership and practical solutions. He vowed that if councillors fail, they will be removed, and if involved in corruption, they will be fired immediately.

Mashaba emphasized that politicians are servants to the people and vowed to push for improved service delivery, restored public trust, and sustainable economic growth across KwaZulu-Natal.
