Abu Dhabi Civil Defence urges parents never to leave children unattended

Abu Dhabi's Civil Defence Authority has issued a warning to parents and caregivers, urging them to never leave children unattended during the summer months. The authority's seventh annual Safe Summer campaign emphasizes that even a momentary lapse in attention can result in serious accidents, particularly in swimming pools. Continuous supervision is highlighted as the primary safeguard against drowning and other preventable incidents.

The authority also cautioned against leaving children alone in parked vehicles, even for brief periods. The extreme heat inside vehicles can rapidly increase, posing a significant danger to their well-being. Parents are advised to educate their children on safe behaviors and emergency response procedures. Ensuring that homes and recreational areas are equipped with appropriate safety measures is also recommended to reduce risks and prevent accidents.

The Civil Defence Authority stresses that safeguarding children is a collective community responsibility. It urges parents to remain vigilant throughout the summer holiday season, as outdoor activities intensify. Dubai Police also echo this message, urging parents to closely supervise children at pools and beaches. A fine of Dh500 awaits those found abandoning vehicles this summer.
