Russian drones kill grandparents and 3-year-old grandson in Kyiv Oblast

During Russia's drone attacks on Saturday, August 8, a tragic incident unfolded in the village of Pukhivka, Kyiv Oblast. A grandfather, grandmother, and their 3-year-old grandson were killed when five Russian drones targeted their private residence around 12:40 a.m. The attack reduced the two-story house to rubble, resulting in a fire that consumed the property and damaged outbuildings and two vehicles.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expressed his outrage at Russia's deliberate targeting of civilian homes, stating that the Russians "could not have been unaware" of the ordinary residential nature of the house. Additionally, Zelenskyy confirmed that one person was killed in Kyiv during an overnight ballistic missile strike. Other regions, including Donetsk, Kharkiv, Sumy, Dnipropetrovsk, Zaporizhzhya, Odesa, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Poltava, also felt the impact of Russia's relentless assaults.

In response to the attacks, Ukrainian air defenses managed to intercept or neutralize 135 of the 151 Russian drones. However, the human cost remained high. In addition to the family in Pukhivka, four other individuals were injured, including the child's parents and a neighbor who provided assistance. The Ukrainian authorities reported three deaths in the Brovary district, highlighting the widespread devastation caused by Russia's relentless strikes.
