Perak Education Department vows fair handling of Chemor teacher bullying complaint, welfare prioritised

IPOH, Aug 8 — The Perak Education Department, in conjunction with the school administration, is committed to handling a teacher's bullying complaint in a fair and unbiased manner, with the well-being of students at the forefront. Datuk Khairudin Abu Hanipah, chairperson of the Perak Education, Higher Education, Youth and Sports Committee, urged both parties to engage in a cooperative spirit during the resolution process, rather than engaging in blame games.

The investigation into the allegations was completed, and the findings have been documented in the Public Complaints Management System (SISPAA), which was shared with reporters during the opening of the Todak Academy (Perak) Digital Education Hub. A recent report revealed that a teacher at a school in Chemor alleged she faced bullying, intimidation, and emotional distress in her workplace between March and May.

Khairudin emphasized that he would not pass judgment on either party, stressing the importance of adhering to the Ministry of Education's established processes and procedures. The teacher's claim of experiencing seizures was confirmed to require medical verification. Perak Education Department director Zulkafli Mohamed Mokhtar confirmed that the department had been notified of the viral social media post and that the issue was taken seriously.

He reaffirmed the department's dedication to addressing complaints professionally, transparently, and in compliance with the established regulations and procedures, while ensuring the welfare of all involved parties. The Perak JPN has been actively engaged in follow-up actions, including engagement sessions, reviews, and monitoring to ensure that every reported issue receives the attention it deserves.

The department remains committed to maintaining fairness, integrity, and accountability in handling every complaint, with the ultimate goal of preserving harmony within school environments and promoting the smooth operation of educational institutions.
