Jharkhand recruitment protests: CM Hemant Soren says 'action soon'- top developments

Chief Minister Hemant Soren of Jharkhand announced on Wednesday that his administration would take swift action following the meeting with Governor Santosh Kumar Gangwar. The protests against irregularities in state recruitment exams continued, with students demanding cancellation of the JPSC exam results, a CBI investigation, and the public release of exam materials.

The 14th Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) Combined Civil Services Preliminary Examination results had been declared on July 5, sparking the demonstrations. The protesters requested transparency, accountability, and reforms in recruitment agencies. Some warned of a sit-in at the Assembly on August 6 if their demands were not met.

A student leader on a hunger strike resumed drinking water after an appeal from climate activist Sonam Wangchuk. The CID was conducting raids to investigate the alleged irregularities, seizing various materials. The BJP criticized the state government, demanding a CBI probe and immediate action on the students' demands.
