Drunk man steals APSRTC bus, drives 80 km before arrest

A visibly intoxicated man stole an APSRTC bus in Kadiri, Sri Sathya Sai district, on Friday night, intending to reach Madanapalle, a distance of 80 kilometers away. Unable to secure a bus at midnight, Siva Prasad (45), from Anantapur, found an APSRTC vehicle at a bus stand near Government Girls High School, adjacent to the Kadiri RTC bus stand, without its driver.

He proceeded to drive off with the bus. The bus arrived at the Madanapalle RTC bus stand on Saturday morning. Following an extensive search, the police identified the bus using technical clues obtained during their investigation. In an interview, Siva Prasad confessed to driving the bus away without authorization. The Madanapalle police promptly informed the Kadiri RTC depot, and the bus was returned to them on Sunday. Charges have been filed against the accused.
