Lagos police ask political parties to notify command ahead of 2027 rallies

Mr. Fatai has urged political parties to cooperate with the Lagos police command by providing notification ahead of rallies to ensure that political activities throughout the state are conducted peacefully, according to Premium Times.

During a Lagos governorship debate held on Sunday, the Nigeria Democratic Congress governorship candidate, Funso Doherty, accused successive governments of failing to show the political will necessary to address the activities of transport operators known as agberos. Doherty told Punch that vested interests in the current public transportation system have hindered sector reforms despite the chaotic operation of commercial buses.

Doherty also questioned why the state has not modernized its public transportation system, noting that thousands of rickety buses continue to operate on the roads.
