Meghan Markle’s father arrested, charged over child abuse material

Thomas Markle Sr, the father of the Duchess of Sussex Meghan Markle, has been arrested by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in Florida on charges related to child sexual abuse material. The arrest, confirmed by a US Justice Department official, occurred near Tampa, Florida. Markle was taken into custody at his senior living community in Lakeland, Florida.

The allegations emerged after investigations into suspected child sexual abuse material reportedly found among belongings linked to Markle in the Philippines and Mexico. Thomas Markle Jr, the son of the accused, discovered a collection of images while clearing out his father's former home in Cebu City, Philippines, and reported the findings to authorities.

The Philippine National Police subsequently obtained a court warrant to examine digital devices recovered from the property, discovering files containing suspected child sexual abuse and exploitation material. Markle has consistently denied the allegations, calling them "lies" and stating that he could not have committed the crimes as accused.
