On election day, millions of US citizens had already cast their votes. According to the Election Lab at the University of Florida, nearly 61 million voters had already done so. When the votes are counted, the results of the so-called Midterms will shape the remaining two years of Trump's presidency. The election decides all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 35 of the 100 Senate seats.
Currently, Trump's Republicans hold 53 Senate seats. To regain control of this chamber, Democrats would need to win 51 votes, including two independent senators who have so far shown little ambition to launch another impeachment inquiry against Trump. Should the Republicans lose their majority in one or both chambers, it remains unclear if Trump will concede defeat.
He previously stated that he would only acknowledge the results if the elections were "fair," but he still claims that he won the 2020 presidential election through fraud.
