A manhunt in Far North Queensland has led to the arrest of a 34-year-old who police allege held a woman at gunpoint over several days before she managed to escape on Saturday morning.
Ryan Symonds, 34, has been arrested in connection with the alleged kidnapping and assault of a woman, police in Far North Queensland have announced. The woman managed to escape from Symonds at Mount Molloy, approximately 90 minutes north-west of Cairns, on Saturday morning. Detective Inspector Kevin Goan stated that the woman was held against her will at gunpoint and subjected to multiple assaults over a number of days.
She was found safe on Saturday morning when she flagged down an officer in a marked car.
