Dax aktuell: Dax am Abend im Plus – Nervosität vor den US-Midterms

Düsseldorf – After a slight correction downwards on Friday, the Dax opened the week modestly in the market. Following small gains during the morning, the leading index rose to 25,985 points in the evening, edging closer to the 26,000 point milestone. On Thursday, the Dax had climbed above 26,100 points for the first time since early September before being held back by tech weakness in the US and Asia on Friday.

At the last trading day of the week, it had closed 0.9 percent lower at 25,808 points, marking its fourth day in the red. A fresh sell-off in the technology sector following Amazon and Intel's earnings weighed on the shares on Friday. The uncertainty among investors was further amplified by another rise in oil prices and the prospect of the US midterm elections on Tuesday.

While the Dax remained largely unaffected by the developments in the US, it did not fall as sharply as the more tech-sensitive US indices. The Nasdaq 100 had its worst trading day since June and the second weakest in the year.
