Nintendo Reveals Pikmin Day Surprise and New Project Hello! Pikmin
A new Pikmin Day Direct is live, with series creator Shigeru Miyamoto announcing Hello! Pikmin and other Nintendo franchise news.
Nintendo has announced a surprise Nintendo Direct titled "Pikmin Day" for November 1, 2026. Shigeru Miyamoto, creator of Mario, appeared in the direct to discuss the occasion. While there is no Pikmin 5 reveal or groundbreaking news, Miyamoto promised to provide more information about Pikmin in the future.
Pikmin Day is based on the original three Pikmin species, whose combined appearance resembles the date "11.1." The direct introduced updates to Pikmin 4 for the Nintendo Switch 2, including a new microphone feature that allows players to control Oatchi using commands like "rush" and "go to work." Additionally, the Dandori Academy mode features timed challenges and medal-earning tasks, with a demo available starting November 2.
Meanwhile, Pikmin Bloom, an augmented reality game, will receive an update this winter with a new mechanic called Secret Caves. Players will explore caves to battle creatures and earn rewards, using cave maps found on Postcards to guide their Pikmin. The update will also allow players to collect maps while completing Dandori Academy challenges.
