Übernahme: Fusion der Telekom mit T-Mobile US in Gefahr

Deutsche Telekom may be delaying the merger process with its US subsidiary T-Mobile US, according to a media report. The German conglomerate has reportedly decided against submitting a formal offer, as per Bloomberg's information from sources familiar with the matter. This decision appears to be influenced by resistance from the employees' council.

However, there is a possibility that the Telekom could consider a new offer at a later stage. Neither the Telekom nor T-Mobile US representatives commented on the matter to the Trade Newspaper. The merger would create the largest telecommunications company in the world, as Deutsche Telekom already holds a significant 54% stake in T-Mobile US.

Discussions have taken place regarding the formation of a new joint entity, possibly headquartered in Ireland or Luxembourg. Yet, these merger plans have faced skepticism for some time. In September, activist investor Elliott made an investment in Deutsche Telekom to prevent the merger and instead pushed for shareholder-value measures such as share buybacks. Furthermore, the US management is reportedly opposed to the merger internally.
