Developer Miguel C has released the source code for Snapintosh OS, an experimental project that brings macOS 27 Golden Gate to Qualcomm Snapdragon hardware, specifically Snapdragon X2 Series laptops. The project, available on GitHub, allows the EL2 monitor to run Apple's stock kernelcache (the J700/T8140 kernel) unmodified by default, providing the platform contracts that the kernel expects from Apple silicon.
The Snapintosh build is far from perfect, with only one laptop model supported – the Asus Zenbook A16 with the Snapdragon X2E-96-100 chipset. Additionally, the current version only uses six virtual CPU cores, and the 3K display only runs at 60Hz. While Wi-Fi connectivity works, other features such as audio, Bluetooth, camera, sleep and wake, external displays, and the native display's 120Hz mode are unsupported.
The Snapintosh OS cannot boot independently and requires a separate Mac machine running macOS 27 to install. The release comes as Qualcomm announced Linux support for the X2 Series processors, with Ubuntu and Debian support expected later this year.
