Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes criticized head coach Michael Carrick's tactics following a devastating 4-1 Champions League loss to Como. The defeat has left United 13th in the Premier League, their worst run since 2015. Carrick, who apologized to the 700 traveling fans, refused to discuss his future, focusing instead on the unacceptable performance.
Fernandes suggested Carrick made a mistake in his approach, stating, "It’s a decision from the staff to not press man to man and sometimes leave space behind and try to get the ball, but sometimes when you give too much of the ball to these teams they get confidence." Carrick acknowledged his responsibility, saying, "I have to apologise to the supporters.
I care about this football club as much as anyone, if not more." United now face Bournemouth in the Premier League.
