Apple iPhone Duo hands-on: So what do you get for S$3,099?

Apple's first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, is set to launch on October 23rd with a starting price of S$3,099. This new device boasts a 5.4-inch outer display and a larger 7.6-inch OLED screen, making it the largest iPhone in Apple's lineup. The phone's display is 50% bigger than the iPhone 18 Pro Max when unfolded, providing an enhanced viewing experience for videos and reading.

The iPhone Duo features a titanium frame with a mirror finish and does not include Face ID, instead opting for the Touch ID located on the power button. It also includes a Camera Control button for camera access and Siri Camera for photo and AI-related tasks. The device is protected by Apple's Ceramic Shield technology and IP68 water and dust resistance, similar to the Honor Magic V6.

The camera setup includes a 48MP main camera and a 48MP ultra-wide camera, capable of up to 4x optical zoom, with digital zoom beyond that resulting in pixelated images. The phone is powered by Apple's A20 Pro chip, designed to maintain peak performance for longer periods. The rounded edges of the device are tailored to fit the OS and placed within easy reach for the right-handed user.

When unfolded, the phone is just slightly smaller than the 8.3-inch iPad mini and is designed to improve video consumption and reading experiences. The iPhone Duo comes with various protective features, such as a curved opening effect, making the transition from closed to open state feel seamless. The phone also allows multitasking with two apps side by side and includes a Smart Take feature for hands-free selfies.
