Apple iPhone Duo hands-on: Your productivity will hinge on this

Apple has finally unveiled its first foldable device, the iPhone Duo, after waiting more than seven years. This passport-sized smartphone, when unfolded, boasts a 19.3cm (7.6-inch) display, making it Apple's thinnest device at just 5.2mm. Unlike previous models, the iPhone Duo does not feature an Action Button or Face ID; instead, it returns Touch ID on the power button and offers a Touch ID for key tasks. The device lacks the usual USB-C charging port on the right side when unfolded, instead placing it on the left.

Apple has also opted to hide battery percentage and carrier details, requiring users to swipe down from the top-right corner. The crease between the folded and unfolded states is virtually unnoticeable, thanks to the ceramic shield protection and IP68 rating. The Duo comes in two colors, night sky and star white, and is priced between Dh8,499 and Dh13,599 in the UAE.

With the new Dynamic Island now located at the top-right corner, multitasking is made easier with split-screen capabilities for email and photos. A new feature allows the camera to automatically capture images without user interaction, and apps are optimized for use with the Duo. Battery life is expected to match that of the iPhone 18 Pro, providing over a day and a half of usage.

While the iPhone Duo's larger screen may not be fully utilized for work and communication, its integration with Apple's ecosystem makes it an attractive option for users seeking a seamless experience in their foldable devices.
