PIA prepares cabin modernisation for selected Boeing 777 aircraft: report

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has initiated a cabin modernisation programme for a selection of Boeing 777 aircraft, according to a report by Business Recorder. This initiative is part of PIA's ongoing commitment to enhance its long-haul cabin product and elevate the passenger experience onboard, as announced by the airline's CEO, Muhammad Amir Hayat.

The program, supported by Aerotec Group, an aviation services group, will see the refurbishment of five confirmed Boeing 777 aircraft, with options for four additional aircraft. The scope of the refurbishment includes the installation of full-flat Business Class seats, the refurbishment of existing Economy Class seating, and the introduction of new 60W In-Seat Power Supply (ISPS) and Passenger Service System (PSS) equipment throughout the cabins.

The programme also involves the inclusion of new carpets, branding elements, and other selected cabin interior upgrades.

Beyond the visual upgrades, the programme encompasses engineering support, certification activities, material procurement, logistics, project management, and technical coordination. The refurbishments will be executed in alignment with PIA's fleet planning, maintenance schedule, and operational requirements to ensure a smooth implementation process.

Hayat highlighted that the introduction of executive economy flat-bed seats would significantly enhance the long-haul product, offering passengers greater comfort and improved rest opportunities during their journey. Additionally, the refurbishment of economy-class cabins with in-seat charging facilities will provide passengers with greater convenience and connectivity.

Aerotec Group's CEO, Frank Kusserow, expressed his honor in supporting PIA in this crucial cabin modernisation programme. He believes that PIA's investment in the comfort and quality of its long-haul passenger experience sends a strong signal and appreciates Aerotec Group's contribution to the project.
