Attacks on Saudi Arabia will trigger collective response, says military spokesperson

Pakistan pledges military aid to Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks, warns of collective response

Pakistan's military spokesperson has warned that attacks on Saudi Arabia would trigger a collective response under the Makkah pact, which was established among Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye. DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry stated that Pakistan is prepared to use all available means to protect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and holy sites.

The Makkah pact's collective defence commitment was put to the test following Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. Pakistan has been urging for a negotiated outcome to the military conflict, emphasizing that the protection of Islam's holiest sites is non-negotiable. The military spokesperson declined to disclose operational details, citing confidentiality.

Pakistan has not yet received a formal request for direct military assistance to Yemen's internationally recognized government but would consider such a request. The Makkah pact, built on longstanding ties and mutual trust, is purely defensive in nature and carries no offensive intent. Pakistan's military deployments and statements demonstrate the seriousness of its defense commitments to Saudi Arabia, and the country is actively working to reduce tensions and bring the parties to a negotiated peaceful outcome.
