Ukraine's Air Force releases video of fighter pilot shooting down Russian Geran drone over Ukraine

Ukraine's Air Force has released video footage showcasing a Ukrainian fighter pilot successfully taking down a Russian Geran drone. The pilot, identified by his call sign Denfix, is part of the Ukrainian Air Force's Western Air Command's tactical aviation brigade. The Ukrainian command confirms the footage depicts the moment a Russian Geran drone was destroyed in the skies above Ukraine, effectively neutralizing another enemy aerial threat.

The Ukrainian Air Force reported Russia's aggression, which began overnight on October 18 with the launch of an Iskander-M ballistic missile from Russia's Voronezh Oblast, accompanied by 180 attack drones, including 26 jet-powered Shahed-type drones, S-8000 Banderol/Dan-T drones, Gerbera drones, and decoy drones. The assault caused significant damage to critical infrastructure in Vinnytsia Oblast, leading to emergency power outages across the region.

Additionally, Russian forces targeted Rivne and its surrounding areas, striking an industrial facility in Manevychi, Volyn Oblast, resulting in a major fire. Local authorities advised residents to remain indoors and seal windows and doors to avoid exposure to the smoky environment. On the morning of October 18, Russian forces launched an attack on energy facilities in Ternopil Oblast, with a drone strike recorded near Staryi Vyshnivets.

The evening of October 17 saw Russia escalating its aggression with jet-powered Shahed drones, guided aerial bombs, and a ballistic missile strike in Kharkiv, causing injuries. In Zaporizhzhia, Russian forces targeted a residential building, resulting in the death of a 27-year-old woman. In Poltava, a Russian drone strike inflicted one fatality and injured two others among private residents, damaging four houses.
