Kansas: Child and adult killed as pickup truck drives onto soccer field

A tragic accident unfolded at a youth soccer game in Wichita, Kansas, leaving two individuals dead and 10 others hospitalized with traumatic injuries. The incident occurred when a truck plowed into the field at the Stryker Sports Complex, where the game was taking place. Police Captain Aaron Moses confirmed that the two fatalities were a six-year-old boy and a 35-year-old man, who were pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the truck was a 34-year-old woman who has been cooperating with investigators. She was in custody, but there were no immediate details about the charges against her. Police Chief Joe Sullivan acknowledged the ongoing investigation to determine the cause of the incident, stating that the force is still working to understand why the tragedy occurred.

Among the 10 injured were two young players aged five, two aged eight, a nine-year-old, and five adults. One adult was also hospitalized for non-traumatic medical concerns. The truck involved had two juveniles as passengers, but they were not present on the field when the accident happened. One of the victims was a parent who had sent their child to play soccer at the complex.
