Sisi says Egypt presidential term will end in 2030, rules out constitutional changes

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced that his presidential term will conclude in 2030, stating that the constitution will not be amended to extend his rule, according to Al-Ahram newspaper. Speaking at a graduation ceremony at the Egyptian Military Academy, Sisi affirmed that the end of his term is already determined and dismissed any possibility of altering the constitution. He emphasized, "My presidential term ends in 2030. This matter is completely settled."

Stressing the significance of maintaining constitutional and democratic principles, Sisi maintained that the constitution "will not be touched." He further highlighted the pivotal role of the armed forces in safeguarding the constitutional order, democracy, and fundamental state pillars.

Additionally, Sisi underscored the importance of nurturing a new generation of leaders by mentioning the contributions of the Egyptian Military Academy. He affirmed, "I will not leave the Egyptian state until it is brimming with its own people capable of shouldering responsibility," expressing his commitment to developing a leadership cadre ready to assume governance responsibilities.

Sisi's re-election for a third term came with a landslide victory, securing 89.6% of the vote. Egyptian leaders, including those from the United Arab Emirates, congratulated Sisi on his re-election.
