Ruto sets deadline for awarding Koitalel Samoei University full charter

President William Ruto has announced February 2027 as the deadline for granting Koitalel Samoei University a full university charter. During his visit to Nandi Hills on October 17, 2026, Ruto pledged Ksh3.5 billion towards the institution's infrastructure development in Nandi County. The president stated that Koitalel University would no longer be a constituent college but a fully fledged university after receiving the charter.

Ruto inspected the construction works conducted over the past 1.5 years and laid the foundation stone for student hostels, which are expected to accommodate 1,200 students. The investment covers the construction of a library, lecture halls, and student accommodation facilities. The Ksh3.5 billion allocation is part of the government's efforts to expand university infrastructure and improve access to higher education across the country.

The February 2027 timeline marks the next major milestone in the transition of Koitalel University from a constituent college to a fully operational university.
