Turkey: Iheanacho sets new record, makes history with goals in 10 conservative matches

Nigerian footballer Kelechi Iheanacho set a historic record in Turkey by scoring in ten consecutive matches of the Turkish First League. The talented winger helped Bursaspor secure a 3-0 victory over Muğlaspor at Muğla Atatürk Stadyumu on Thursday night. Prior to this impressive run, Iheanacho had previously broken Bursaspor's record with nine consecutive goals, surpassing the previous record of eight consecutive goals set by Fernandao during the 2014-15 season.

The match remained goalless until the 48th minute when Iheanacho broke the deadlock with a header during a goalmouth scramble. However, the goal was ruled offside. In the 58th minute, Iheanacho found the back of the net after a pass from Halil Akbunar, securing the opening goal for Bursaspor. According to Turkish newspaper Hürriyet, Iheanacho's achievement surpassed those of metin Oktay and Saffet Sancaklı, two football legends who each scored in nine consecutive matches during their careers.

Before this remarkable performance, Iheanacho had already set a new Bursaspor record, scoring in nine consecutive matches. He extended Bursaspor's lead in the 73rd minute with a precise left-footed strike inside the penalty area. Hüseyin Maldar added another goal in the 83rd minute, completing Bursaspor's 3-0 victory. Throughout the season, Iheanacho has scored 14 goals and provided three assists in ten appearances for the Turkish club.
