St. Joseph the Worker Credit Union hits 44,800 clients, ranking 3rd in Ashanti

The St. Joseph the Worker Co-operative Credit Union has seen a substantial increase in its client base, now standing at over 44,800 as of 2025. This has resulted in the institution ranking third in the Ashanti Region and 19th nationwide, according to the Ghana Co-operative Credit Unions Association (CUA). At the 27th Annual General Meeting (AGM), held in Mamponteng, Kwabre East Municipality, the Board Chairman, Dr. Robert Kusi Acheampong, emphasized the importance of growing the member share capital alongside savings.

He encouraged more members to meet the minimum share requirement to gain full membership status and enjoy the benefits of ownership. The cooperative's success can be attributed to its member-centric operations, enabling members to acquire shares and experience the rewards of ownership. Dr. Acheampong also called for the repayment of delinquent loans to avert legal action from the management and board.

The Credit Union has been a reliable financial partner for many individuals and families, supporting their personal and economic goals through savings and affordable financial services. These savings have enabled members to expand businesses, fund education, build homes, and meet unforeseen expenses without undue financial strain.

General Manager, Ms. Shirley Serwaa Bernie, highlighted the Credit Union's commitment to promoting financial literacy and fostering responsible saving habits for long-term economic stability. During the AGM, active members were rewarded with television sets for their contributions to the strong savings culture. As economic challenges persist, the Credit Union underscores the significance of share acquisition and savings in building financial resilience and ensuring access to future opportunities.
