'It really does change you': SpaceX Crew-12 commander wishes we could all see our fragile Earth from space
The astronauts of SpaceX's Crew-12 mission wish that we could all see Earth as they just did —as a beautiful but fragile outpost of life in a vast void.
SpaceX's Crew-12 astronauts have returned from their mission aboard the International Space Station with a profound appreciation for Earth's fragility. Commander Jessica Meir of NASA emphasized the thin and delicate atmosphere that sustains life on our planet, urging humanity to do its utmost to protect it. Mission specialist Andrey Fedyaev of the Russian space agency Roscosmos echoed this sentiment, highlighting the unity and cooperation among crew members while stressing the importance of safeguarding Earth's shared habitat.
These perspectives, sparked by the 'overview effect' - a phenomenon experienced by many astronauts - underscore the need for all of us to cherish and safeguard our fragile planet, as the astronauts of Crew-12 have done.
