Fubara rewards Rivers Real Madrid academy team with N50m

Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has rewarded the players and coaches of the Real Madrid Football Academy's UK tour with a sum of N50 million. The reward was announced at the Government House in Port Harcourt, where Fubara commended the team for their discipline and exemplary conduct during their recent football tour of the United Kingdom.

The governor emphasized that the academy, established by his predecessor Nyesom Wike, aims to nurture young football talents who can build successful careers in the sport. Fubara also highlighted the potential of the football economy as being larger than many conventional corporate organizations. The tour, sponsored by the state government, aimed to expose the students to international football, with some reportedly attracting interest from foreign clubs.

Fubara assured the students that the state government would address challenges such as inadequate facilities and insufficient accommodation to create a conducive environment for learning and training.
