Section 2 playoff races are heating up. Here's your complete guide to who's locked up a playoff spot and who's still fighting.
As the Section 2 football playoffs approach, teams in Classes B, C, and D are vying for postseason spots. In Class AA, no teams have clinched a playoff berth, with the top contenders being CBA, Saratoga Springs, Shaker, and Shenendehowa. On the other hand, Class A also has no clinched teams, with the nine teams playing each other to determine the four playoff teams.
In Class B, Schalmont/Duanesburg/Berne-Knox-Westerlo and Glens Falls are leading the pack, while in Class B South, Averill Park is at the top. The Class C East division still has no clinched teams, but Schuylerville has closed the gap on the top spot after a recent win. Finally, in Class C West, four teams have secured their playoff spots, leaving out Coxsackie-Athens, which forfeited the rest of its schedule due to a lack of players.
