This pocketable compact camera inspired by a real 1959 camera has a retro filter dial – and now Yashica has finally shared the price
The Yashica Y16 Pocket is a tiny retro camera that still fits in a filter dial and optical viewfinder, and now the company has shared the official price
Yashica is introducing a compact digital camera, the Yashica Y16 Pocket, inspired by a 1959 film camera. This new camera offers a retro design and features a dial to unlock eight built-in digital filters. The Yashica Y16 Pocket boasts a 12MP default resolution and a low-fi 5MP option, with a 27mm lens equivalent to full-frame. The camera is priced at $114.42 / £86.48 / AU$163.98 / CA$162.63.
Although the sensor size remains undisclosed, the compact design suggests a smaller sensor, similar to the 1/3.06 used in the Yashica Crew. The Yashica Y16 Pocket offers 4K video at 22 fps and 2K resolution, with an optical viewfinder and 1.45-inch LCD screen. The camera weighs 93g and measures 9.1cm in length and 2.9cm in depth.
Scheduled to begin shipping on November 30, the Yashica Y16 Pocket targets low-fi nostalgia over serious image quality.
