Rio Ferdinand tells Man United exactly how to handle delicate Lisandro Martinez situation

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has offered the club advice on how to handle the difficult situation surrounding Lisandro Martinez, following his explosive remarks after the Atletico Madrid game. Martinez expressed his frustration to the media, criticizing the club's ownership for not supporting Michael Carrick as he wished during the summer transfer window. He also singled out director of football Jason Wilcox, and warned that his stance would not be silenced until changes were made.

In a podcast interview with Rio Ferdinand, the club's former defender discussed potential ways to resolve the tense situation. Ferdinand emphasized that United must first understand the relationship Martinez has within the changing room and whether his comments were discussed beforehand with his teammates. He suggested that Martinez should have discussed his concerns with the management before going public with his criticisms.

Ferdinand also pointed out that other high-profile players, such as Roy Keane, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Ralf Rangnick, faced consequences when they spoke out against the club's hierarchy. He warned that if United were to overlook Martinez's comments, it could set a precedent for other players to feel they could publicly criticize the club as well.

Ferdinand suggested that United has two options: either take a strong stance against Martinez to set an example for future players, or face criticism for being soft on the matter. He believes that Martinez will address the team directly, acknowledging the impact of his comments and explaining his intentions. Ultimately, the club must make a decision on how to proceed, as their response will set a tone for future player conduct and club culture.
