WhatsApp Now Lets Anyone Join Calls Without an Account

WhatsApp has introduced a feature allowing anyone, including users without an account, to join phone calls through the messaging app. Guests can join calls using a link directly from a web browser, without downloading the app or creating an account. These calls are free, have no time limit, and maintain end-to-end encryption. Only account holders can create a call link by selecting the Calls tab, tapping the "+" button, and generating a link that can then be shared.

Guests open the link, input their name, and join a waiting room. The host must manually approve each guest before they can enter the call. The guest experience includes the ability to share their screen, react with emojis, and raise their hand, though they cannot see others' phone numbers, send messages, or invite additional participants.

The host retains control over removing guests or ending the call. WhatsApp is also integrating guest calls with Google Calendar and Outlook, allowing users to add call links to calendar invitations and participate even without a WhatsApp account. This feature is set to roll out to all users on the latest versions of WhatsApp for Android and iOS gradually, with a full availability date yet to be announced.
