Trump questions claims of China and Russia helping Iran

Petro Poroshenko, leader of the European Solidarity Party and a People's Deputy, responded to U.S. President Donald Trump's criticism of Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Poroshenko called for a change in leadership within the Russian Federation, stating, "If anyone needs a new leader, it is Russia." Mykola Knyazhytsky, a European Solidarity MP, noted that Trump's calls to replace Zelenskyy actually bolster the Ukrainian president's standing.

Trump's comments reinforce the idea that Zelenskyy is a strong advocate for his position. Poroshenko emphasized the importance of reaching a full and unconditional ceasefire, asserting that any action should be evaluated based on this criterion. Trump temporarily authorized the supply of Russian diesel fuel to the global market, following which he accused Zelenskyy of strikes on Russian oil refineries and a reluctance to end the conflict with Russia. He expressed a desire for Ukraine to elect a new leader capable of achieving agreements.

In response, Zelenskyy offered to hold presidential elections if Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to a 60-day ceasefire. Marta Kos, European Commissioner for Enlargement, affirmed that only Ukraine has the authority to decide on the issue of elections and its future. Poroshenko has consistently argued against holding elections during wartime, criticizing any actions perceived as preparations for them, and has advocated for the creation of a coalition government with opposition participation.
