‘Space Gal’ Emily Calandrelli launches into the Marvel Universe this week on Disney Jr.'s 'Iron Man' series (exclusive)

Emily Calandrelli, famously known as "Space Gal," is set to join the Marvel Universe in Disney Jr.'s animated series, Iron Man and his Awesome Friends. The space communicator and citizen astronaut will voice a character called Astronaut Amy in the episode titled "The Iron Friends in Space." This opportunity allows Calandrelli to share her passion for space with younger audiences.

In the episode, Astronaut Amy meets a group of characters including Tony Stark, Riri Williams, Amadeus Cho, and Vision, who explore a moon-themed museum display. Calandrelli's character shares information about space and lunar exploration, providing a real-life context to the fictional universe. This move aligns with Disney's plans to expand the series with additional characters, including Captain America, Hulk, Black Panther, Black Widow, and Thor, as it transitions to Marvel's Avengers: Mightiest Friends in the summer.

Calandrelli's role in Iron Man and his Awesome Friends is part of her ongoing effort to make space exploration relatable and exciting for the next generation. She recently became the 100th woman to reach space when she launched aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard rocket on the NS-28 suborbital mission. The episode featuring Calandrelli is set to air on Disney Jr. on October 14 or stream on Disney+ beginning October 28.
