Chivas defeated their rival América in Oakland, California, securing Mexico's Clásico in the process. The match took place at the Coliseum during the Tour Rebaño 2026 and drew over 60,000 fans. Chivas' Ángel Sepúlveda scored twice, one from a penalty in the 13th minute and another header in the 23rd minute. The victory was particularly significant for four young players - Carlos Hernández, Leonel Calderón, Rodrigo Parra, and Jesús Hernández - who made their debut appearances for Chivas' First Team.
With this win, Gabriel Milito, the Chivas coach, remains unbeaten in the nine Clásicos he has managed against both América and Atlas, boasting seven wins and two draws. Chivas will now prepare to face their crosstown rivals again in a new edition of the Clásico Tapatío on October 10 at Estadio Jalisco.
