TinkerHub to host overnight hackathon in Kozhikode

Open to students and non-working young people aged 15–25, the free event will challenge participants to create projects on the broad theme of travel.

The TinkerHub Foundation, a nonprofit organization based in Kerala, is set to host LAYOVER, an overnight hackathon for young participants between the ages of 15 and 25. This free event, which will take place at TinkerSpace Calicut from 6 p.m. on October 10 to 6 a.m. on October 11, challenges participants to develop projects centered around the theme of travel.

Organized in collaboration with The Visa Guy, the hackathon aims to bring together up to 200 participants from across Kerala. Unlike traditional hackathons, LAYOVER offers participants the flexibility to create projects around the theme of travel, encompassing hardware, software, artificial intelligence, games, or experimental technology without the need for practical or commercial applications.

Jazim, community manager of TinkerHub Foundation, expressed enthusiasm for the event, stating that they wanted to witness the creativity of young people when given the freedom to explore. With a community of over 44,000 young makers across 65 campuses, and more than 20 mentors, volunteers, and organizers, LAYOVER promises to be a vibrant learning and innovation experience.

The event will conclude with the selection of a winning team, which will receive a fully funded trip to Dubai. Registration for LAYOVER closes on October 6, and interested participants can sign up on the TinkerHub website.
