Zelenskyy shares photos of damage to Kyiv's Southern Bridge after Russian drone strikes

On October 2, a Russian drone strike targeted a 25-story apartment building in Kyiv's Darnytskyi district, resulting in one death and two injuries, as reported by the National Police. The victim was identified as a 24-year-old woman whose body was discovered during an inspection of an apartment. Two other residents sustained injuries; one was hospitalized for smoke inhalation and another remains in serious condition due to burns.

The fire broke out on the 24th and 25th floors, consuming an area of 120 square meters. Emergency responders successfully extinguished the blaze, which also caused damage to approximately 40 square meters of the building's structure. Two injured residents were rescued and transferred to medical personnel, while six others were evacuated during the firefight.

Rescuer crews remain on-site to dismantle damaged structures and address any remaining hot spots. Earlier that same day, Russia launched drone strikes against Kyiv's Southern Bridge, effectively blocking traffic across the crucial transit route following multiple attacks on the structure within a 24-hour period. In total, Russia dispatched 108 drones against Ukraine overnight on October 2, with 88 intercepted by Ukrainian air defenses. Drone strikes were reported in 11 distinct locations.
