SpaceX sumbang 50 kit Starlink untuk siap siaga bencana negara

Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim has welcomed a donation of 50 Starlink kits from SpaceX, an American aerospace company, aimed at bolstering the country's national disaster preparedness, the Prime Minister announced today. The donation was made during a formal visit by SpaceX's delegation to Anwar at Perdana Putra building in Putrajaya, accompanied by Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil.

The meeting also discussed strengthening strategic cooperation through Starlink, a SpaceX satellite internet service with a focus on expanding coverage to remote areas. Anwar expressed gratitude for the role of Starlink in supporting government efforts to broaden network reach and enhance the quality of internet access, including in Sabah, Sarawak, and Peninsular Malaysia's indigenous communities.

The Prime Minister also welcomed the operationalization of Starlink's Point of Presence (PoP) in Cyberjaya, which will facilitate local data traffic and improve service quality for users. He emphasized that technological advancements should yield tangible benefits for the people, alongside cybersecurity, data protection, and safe usage, as internet access continues to expand.

"We want to ensure that the rural population also enjoys high-quality and safe internet access to avoid being left behind as Malaysia progresses," Anwar stated.
