SpaceX sumbang 50 kit Starlink untuk siap siaga bencana negara

Malaysia's Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim received a delegation from SpaceX, the American aerospace company, at the Perdana Putra Building in Putrajaya today. Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil also attended the visit.

The Prime Minister announced that SpaceX is donating 50 Starlink kits to Malaysia to support national disaster preparedness. The donation was made during the delegation's visit to the Prime Minister's office at the Perdana Putra Building. The meeting also discussed strengthening strategic cooperation through Starlink, a SpaceX satellite Internet service focused on extending coverage to rural areas.

The Prime Minister expressed his appreciation for Starlink's role in supporting government efforts to expand coverage and enhance the quality of Internet access, including in Sabah and Sarawak and among the Orang Asli in Peninsular Malaysia. He also welcomed the operational deployment of Starlink Point of Presence (PoP) in Cyberjaya to boost local data traffic and improve service quality for users.

The Prime Minister emphasized that technological advancements should bring tangible benefits to the people, beyond cybersecurity, data protection, and safe usage, as internet access continues to expand. He stressed the need to ensure that rural communities also enjoy high-quality and safe internet access so they are not left behind in the country's progress.
