Military records 367 attacks, kills 52 terrorists in September

In September 2026, the Nigerian military recorded an impressive 367 attacks across various operation theatres. Among these, Operation Enduring Peace led with 147 incidents, followed by Operation Fansan Yamma with 115 attacks, and Operation Whirl Stroke with 55. Other operations included Operation Hadin Kai with 33 attacks, Operation Savannah Shield with 13, and Operation Udo Ka with four recorded attacks. Operation Delta Safe did not record any attacks during this period.

Director of Defence Media Operations, Maj. Gen. Michael Onoja, reported that military forces responded swiftly to these incidents, utilizing superior firepower and tactical maneuvers to effectively counter the attacks. He highlighted the military's success in neutralizing 52 terrorists and criminals, as well as arresting a total of 350 terrorist/criminals.

Additionally, the military rescued 655 kidnapped civilians and facilitated the surrender of 75 insurgents. In terms of military hardware, troops recovered 52 arms and 2,335 rounds of ammunition. They dismantled eight illegal refining sites and retrieved over 304,822 litres of stolen petroleum products during the month.
