SpaceX contributes 50 Starlink kits to support Malaysia’s disaster preparedness

US aerospace firm SpaceX has donated 50 Starlink kits to Malaysia to bolster the nation's disaster preparedness, according to a meeting between Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and a SpaceX delegation in Putrajaya. The contribution was part of a courtesy call on the Prime Minister, along with Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil. During the meeting, Anwar highlighted the potential of Starlink, the company's satellite internet service, to expand network access and improve internet quality, particularly for rural residents in Sabah, Sarawak, and Orang Asli settlements.

He also acknowledged the importance of Starlink's infrastructure in Cyberjaya to facilitate local data traffic and enhance service quality for users. Anwar emphasized that while technological advancement is crucial, it must bring tangible benefits to the people, and cybersecurity, data protection, and safe internet use must remain top priorities as internet access expands.
